About Geo Tagging:

  • Geo-tagging refers to the process of detecting the geographic location of an image. It is the process of incorporating geographic identification such as latitude and longitude into various media such as photos or videos.
  • It can help users find different types of location-specific information from the device.
  • For geo-tagging, the central government works in collaboration with the National Remote Sensing Center (NRSC) of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) in Hyderabad. NRSC uses a software platform Bhuvan.
  • Bhuvan allows users to get information related to 2D/3D representation of Earth’s surface.

Better monitoring, transparency in plans, assistance in leak detection and effective mapping of the area for future development works.

Schemes become highly dependent on technology, with uncertain internet connections at the grassroots level and the complexity in the process and its use as well as lack of adequate information dissemination, often confusing the worker or the beneficiary.
