World Hemophilia Day 2021
World Haemophilia Day has been observed on 17 April by the ‘World Federation of Haemophilia’. It is an initiative of the ‘World Federation of Haemophilia’ to spread awareness about haemophilia and other genetic bleeding disorders.
Haemophilia
- Actually, hemophilia is a genetic disease, i.e., it can also occur from parent to child. The disease is found more in men than women.
- Bleeding does not stop in a person suffering from this disease, that is, a blood clot does not form in this disease. This is due to the lack of protein in the blood, also known as the clotting factor.
- Theme of The World Haemophilia Day, 2021 is “Adapting to change: sustaining care in a new world”.
Significance:
75% of people affected by bleeding disorder are not aware of it, so the purpose of celebrating this day is to raise awareness about the disease.

The World Federation of Haemophilia was founded by Frank Schnebel in 1963, so Haemophilia Day is celebrated on his birthday. The World Federation of Haemophilia is headquartered in Montreal, Canada.
