- Recently, on 22 April 2021, World Earth Day has been organized all over the world.
- The main purpose of Earth Day is to provide protection to the Earth and to make people aware of environmental protection. Every year a theme is set for World Earth Day.
- The theme of World Earth Day this year was ‘Restore Our Earth’, under which natural processes, emerging green technologies and innovative thinking were emphasized to restore the world’s ecosystems.

- Earth Day is organized by EARTHDAY.ORG, a non-profit organization globally. The old name of this organization was Earth Day Network.
- Due to the international importance of this day, the historic Paris Agreement was signed by the United Nations on 22 April 2016 by the United Nations to deal with climate change.
- It is to be noted that initially Earth Day was celebrated on 2 March and 22 April every year, but World Earth Day has been decided to be celebrated from 1970 to 22 April only.
- On March 21, Earth Day has been celebrated only as a symbol of the spring of the northern hemisphere and the autumn of the southern hemisphere.
- Earth Day, observed on March 21, has the support of the United Nations but has received only scientific and environmental importance, while Earth Day, observed on April 22, has political and social significance for the entire world.
- The United Nations has announced to celebrate April22 as ‘International Mother Earth Day’.
