What is Agricultural Tourism?
- In agri-tourism, urban tourists stay at the farmers’ homes in the village and seek information about farming from them. Also during their stay, they enjoy many farming activities like tractor rides, bullock cart rides, etc. Additionally, they enjoy folk songs and dances.
- Tourists buy fresh agricultural produce from farmers. In return, farmers provide accommodation for tourists to stay and entertain them during their stay. This serves as an additional income for the farmers. Also, it employs local youth as tourist guides. In this way, the program also provides employment opportunities.
- According to a recent survey of the Agricultural Tourism Development Corporation, about 56 million tourists visited agri-tourism centers. It has increased to 0.61 million in 2019 and 0.78 million in 2020.

- It is to be noted that Maharashtra is the leading state in the country to develop and promote agro-tourism. It passed the Agro-Tourism Policy in September The purpose of which is to provide the enjoyment of farming to the tourists and help to increase the income of the farmers.
