Vostok Exercise 2022
Recently India joined China in a multilateral strategic and command exercise Vostok 2022 in Russia.
It will include troops from several former Soviet countries, China, India, Laos, Mongolia, Nicaragua and Syria.
The Indian Army was represented by a contingent of soldiers from the 7/8 Gorkha Rifles.
Its purpose is to establish liaison and coordination between the other participating troops and observers.
The Vostok 2022 exercise will be conducted at the Seven Firing Ranges in Russia’s Far East and the Sea of Japan, and will involve over 50,000 troops and more than 5,000 weapon units. This includes 140 aircraft and 60 warships.
The Indian Army contingent looks forward to share practical aspects and put into practice practice procedures and practice amalgamation of new technology through tactical exercises.
India’s exercises with China and Russia
China:
Exercise Hand-in-Hand: The objective of the exercise is to conduct joint planning and counter-terrorist operations in semi-urban areas.
Russia:
- Exercise Indra: The exercise provide for joint counter-terrorism operations in accordance with the UN mandate against international terrorist groups.
