Veer Guardian 2023 Practice
- Recently Veer Guardian 2023 Exercise will be organized between India and Japan.
- Veer Guardian 2023 exercise will be conducted from 16 to 26 January next year.
Veer Guardian 2023 Exercise
- This 10-day exercise will be conducted between the Indian Air Force and the Japanese Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) at Hyakuri Airport and Iruma Airport in Japan.
- The aim of the exercise is to strengthen mutual understanding and defense ties between the two air forces. It also seeks to enhance the tactical skills of the JASDF to strengthen its preparedness for possible armed conflicts.
- The Indian side will be represented by a contingent of around 150 personnel, who will be carried by two C-17 transport aircraft. This will include 1 IL-78 mid-air refueller and 4 Su-30MKI fighters.
- The Japanese side will field 4 F-15s and 4 F-2 fighter jets for this bilateral exercise.
Other defense exercises involving India and Japan
- India and Japan are currently conducting Dharma Guardian exercise between the armies.
- Shinyu Friendship between Air Force and JIMEX between Navy. Both the navies regularly conduct bilateral exercises and passage exercises with a focus on the Indo-Pacific.
- Japan has been participating in the Indo-US Malabar naval exercise since 2015. Australia is also involved in this exercise. These four countries form the QUAD alliance, which is currently working towards preventing any “coercion” in the Indo-Pacific.
- Japan participated in the Milan Exercise organized by the Indian Navy for the first time in 2022.
- Exercise MILAN is a biennial multilateral naval exercise conducted by the Indian Navy since 1995 at the Andaman and Nicobar Command.
