United States Complete Hypersonic Missile Booster Testing
The United States has successfully tested its ‘Air-Launched Rapid Response Weapon’ (ARRW) booster in an arms competition with China and Russia.
These two different hypersonic missiles have been designed and developed by American weapons manufacturer Lockheed Martin.
Hypersonic weapons reach five times the speed of sound in the upper atmosphere (Mach 5), or about 6,200 m. move at an hourly rate.
Earlier in May, Russia successfully test-fired a hypersonic ‘Zircon cruise missile’.
In the year 2020, the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) had successfully test-fired a ‘Hypersonic Technology Demonstrated Vehicle’ (HSTDV).
Through this, the hypersonic air-breathing Scramjet Technology was successfully demonstrated.
Currently, only the US, Russia and China have hypersonic technology.
