Unified District Information System for Education Plus report (UDISE+) 2019-20 Report
Recently, Ministry of Education has released the report on Unified District Information System for Education Plus report (UDISE+) 2019-20.
- The United District Education Information System (UDISE) launched in the academic session 2012-13 was one of the largest management information systems on school education.
- Now, the entire system under UDISE+ is online and collecting data in real time from the academic session 2018-19 onwards.
- It is mandated to collect information from all recognized and unrecognized schools imparting formal education from pre-primary to class XII.
Key findings
- There has been an improvement in the Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) at all levels of school education in the academic session 2019-20 as compared to the academic session 2018-19.
- A pupil-teacher ratio (PTR) has also improved at all levels of schooling.
- Enrollment of girls from primary to senior secondary has increased by 14.08 lakhs in comparison to the academic session 2018-19.
- Between the academic session 2012-13 and the academic session 2019-20, there has been an improvement in the Gender Parity Index (GPI) at both the secondary and higher secondary levels.
Better Infrastructure:
- There has been a marked improvement in the number of schools having functional electricity, functional computer and internet facility in the academic session 2019-20 as compared to the previous year.
- In the academic session 2019-20, more than 90 percent of schools in India had hand washing facilities, while it was only 36.3 percent in the academic session 2012-13.
