  • This organization develops and discovers new capabilities and technologies to deal with the problem of terrorism as well as manage the consequences of a terrorist attack.
  • NATO makes diplomatic efforts to resolve disputes and problems in a peaceful manner, but if these efforts fail, it also has to use military power for such crisis management tasks.
  • Member countries of NATO: Albania, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, USA, Canada, Denmark, Estonia, France, Latvia, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, Romania, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, United Kingdom, Poland, Germany , Greece, Hungary, Lithuania, Slovenia, Spain, Turkey and Montenegro.

Historical background of NATO:

Due to the blockade of Berlin by the Soviet Union in the year 1948, Western European capitalist countries feared the spread of communist ideology, so for the protection of Western European countries, an organization called NATO was formed under American leadership. In response to NATO, the Soviet Union signed the “Warsaw Pact”. This whole development gave a boost to armaments, due to which the relations between the US and the Soviet Union became tenser.
