Recently, the Hindi translation of Tolkappiyam and the Kannada translation of nine books of classical Tamil literature were released by the Minister of State for Education.
The translation of Tolkappiyam into Hindi translation of the verse (text, transliteration, and translation) was done by Dr. H. Bala Subramaniam and Prof. K. Nachimuthu.
What is Tolkappiyam?
- Tolkappiyam is the oldest existing Tamil grammar text. It is the oldest extant work of Tamil literature till date.
- Some scholars associate this composition with the mythological second Sangam. This confluence was variously held in the first millennium BC or earlier.
