“One Sun, One World and One Grid” initiative during COP26 With the "One Sun, One World and One Grid" initiative during the recent COP26, the Prime Minister of India has called for a global solar grid. India and UK launched Green Grid Initiative – One Sun, One World, One Grid (GG-OSOWOG). Also presented a Declaration of Forest supported by more than 80 countries. According to the One Sun Declaration, the initiative will have the following key areas of action: Investing in solar, wind, storage and other renewable energy generation in locations rich in renewable energy resources Construction of long distance lines for cross border transmission Developing and using state-of-the-art techniques and technologies to modernize electrical systems Developing innovative financial instruments. Developing market structures for solar grid infrastructure. Additionally, during the bilateral talks between the Prime Minister and his British counterpart on the sidelines of the COP26 Climate Summit in Glasgow, various issues were discussed, such as: Countering terrorism and stressing the need to control the activities of some extremist separatist organizations. To improve cooperation in the areas of green hydrogen, renewable energy, clean technology etc. Strengthening cooperation on bilateral defense and security and international issues were discussed. The issue of the situation in Afghanistan was also included in the discussion. India welcomed the new UK India Green Guarantee to receive funding from the World Bank. OSOWOG envisions the creation and expansion of an inter-regional energy grid to share solar energy around the world, taking advantage of differences in time zones, seasons, resources and prices between countries and regions.
