IPCC Sixth Assessment Report released

Second part of IPCC Sixth Assessment Report released Recently IPCC released the second part of its Sixth Assessment Report. The title of this report is “Climate Change 2022: Impacts, Adaptation and Vulnerability”. This report has been released by the Inter-Governmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). This report reviews the vulnerabilities, capabilities and limitations of nature and human society to adapt to climate change. The IPCC is a body of the United Nations. It was established in 1988 by the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO). Key findings of this report: The adverse effects of climate change are far more widespread, regular and much more devastating than previously estimated. South Asia, including India, is among the most vulnerable regions. Also, the potential for severe water crisis in the Ganga ecosystem basin by 2050 is projected. The climate crisis has already caused some irreversible changes. This includes the following: mass death of organisms at sites and in the oceans, The first case of extinction of a species due to anthropogenic climate change, and increased incidence of death and disease due to extreme heat. At least half of the world's population lives in areas most vulnerable to climate crisis. The climate crisis has negatively affected people's physical and mental health Diseases like diarrhea had been controlled globally. However, the higher the temperature, the higher the The increasing incidence of rainfall and floods has again increased the outbreak of diseases like diarrhea. This report suggests the adoption of ecosystem-based adaptation and nature-based approaches.
