Swachh Survekshan Grameen 2021
Recently, the Ministry of Jal Shakti has launched Swachh Survekshan Grameen 2021 under the ‘Second Phase’ of the Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin).
Swachh Survekshan Grameen 2021
- It is a survey of sanitation, hygiene and cleanliness in rural areas to accelerate ODF Plus initiatives and enhance ODF sustainability. Simultaneously, it also focuses on accelerating the pace of reforms in solid and liquid waste management (SWM) activities.
- The Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DDWS) had launched ‘Swachh Survekshan Grameen’ in the year 2018 and the year 2019.
- A specialist agency has been assigned to conduct the survey 2021.
Significance:
- The survey will help bridge the gap in outcomes by identifying challenges at the grassroots level and working with all states.
- Swachh Survekshan Grameen has also promoted the spirit of healthy competition in the villages so that better services can be provided to the citizens by the villages towards the creation of clean villages.
- Citizen Feedback Program will be further strengthened. Swachh Bharat Mission was launched in the year 2014 to accelerate efforts to achieve universal sanitation coverage and focus on cleanliness.
- The Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) is implemented by the Ministry of Jal Shakti.
- The Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) is being implemented by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MOHUA).
