Recently the results of Swachh Survekshan 2022 Awards have been declared.
Key findings of Swachh Survekshan- 2022
- Indore has got the first place among the cities with a population of more than 1 lakh.
- Madhya Pradesh ranks first in the category of states having more than 100 urban local bodies.
The ranking was provided by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) at a function organized for the Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban (SBM-1) 2.0.
Swachh Survekshan-
- It is being organized by MoHUA under SBM-U since the year 2016. It is the world’s largest urban sanitation and cleanliness survey.
- It started with a survey of 73 cities. In Swachh Survekshan 2022, 4354 cities have been surveyed.
The following was emphasized in the Swachh Survekshan, 2022:
- End-to-End digital monitoring,
- Clean City Technology Challenge- Innovative Solutions from Citizens/Start-ups, etc.,
- Gender and social inclusion,
- Swachh Survekshan Gramin (SSG) 2022 Awards were also announced with more focus on frontline workers of the municipality along with action in dealing with COVID-19.
This ranking is based on the following quantitative and qualitative hygiene parameters:
- Direct observation, feedback received from citizens, and service level progress.
- Swachh Survekshan was started by the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Ministry of Rural, Jalshakti from the year 2018. This survey is conducted under SBM-Gramin.
- Telangana has got the first position in the category of large states. Andaman and Nicobar Islands have got the first place under the category of small states and union territories.
