SVAMITVA Scheme
On April 24, 2020, on the occasion of Panchayati Raj Day, the Prime Minister launched the ‘SVAMITVA scheme’ to promote socio-economic empowerment and self-reliant rural India.
Key points
- The purpose of this scheme is to distribute property cards to give people in rural areas the right to their property, ‘Record of Rights’.
- The scheme will cover about 62 lakh villages across the country during 2021-2025.
- Till now, more than 3 lakh families have been given property rights letters in 2481villages of the country under this
- SVAMITVA scheme, a collaborative effort of the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, State Panchayati Raj Departments, State Revenue Departments and Survey of India.
