Statue of Peace unveiled
Recently, the Union Home Minister has unveiled the statue of Swami Ramanujacharya ‘Statue of Peace’ in Srinagar.
Swami Ramanujacharya’s ‘Statue of Peace’ has been installed in a temple in Sonwar area of Srinagar.
In February 2022, the Prime Minister also unveiled the 216 feet tall ‘Statue of Equality’ of Swami Ramanujacharya in Hyderabad.
Swamy Ramanujacharya
- He is also known by the name Ramanuja. He was a great thinker, philosopher and social reformer.
- He is considered one of the most important exponents of the Sri Vaishnava tradition.
- He was born in Tamil Nadu in the 11th century.
Contribution of Ramanujacharya
- Born in 1017 in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu.
- He propounded Vishishtadvaita (modified monism).
- He said that the ultimate reality is Brahman and that the soul and matter are his qualities.
- According to him, even after merging with Brahman, the Atman remains distinct.
- He expounded the grace of God as more important than knowledge.
