Side-channel attacks (SCAs)
Recently, Indian researchers have developed a low-energy security chip to prevent side-channel attacks on Internet of Things devices.
- The purpose of SCA is to obtain sensitive information such as cryptographic keys, proprietary machine learning models and parameters by measuring such things as system timing information, power consumption and electromagnetic leaks.
- These are also known as sidebar attacks or implementation attacks. They are generally difficult to detect and prevent.
Types of SCAs: Timing Attack, Electromagnetic (EM) Attack, Acoustic, Power, Optical, Memory Cache, Hardware Functions.
