Reporters Without Borders

It is one of the world’s leading non-governmental organizations in the defense and promotion of freedom of information. It is located in Paris.

It has advisory status to the United Nations, UNESCO and the European Council.

It publishes the World Press Freedom Index annually.

Recently, the RSF has presented the following findings:

  • There are currently 488 media professionals in captivity around the world (the highest in 25 years).
  • In contrast, the relative stability of conflicts in West Asia had the lowest number of professionals killed this year.
  • The most dangerous countries for media professionals are Mexico, Afghanistan, Yemen and India.
