RUSA – Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan
Recently the Ministry of Education has approved the continuation of Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) scheme till March 31, 2026.
About RUSA Scheme:
- It is a centrally sponsored scheme launched in the year 2013.
- The scheme focuses on providing strategic financing to eligible state higher educational institutions.
- Under the new phase, RUSA aims to increase access to under-privileged areas, relatively under-privileged areas. This includes remote and rural areas, areas affected by Left Wing Extremism, aspirational districts, tier-2 cities, etc.
- The new phase is designed to implement some of the recommendations of the National Education Policy 2020.
- The scheme will support state governments to increase their chances of getting employment through gender inclusion, equity initiatives, information and communication technology (CT), vocational education and skill up-gradation.
- Under this, grants will be provided for various activities including teaching-learning in Indian languages. With this, recognized and unrecognized universities and colleges will be strengthened.
