QUAD Summit
Recently, Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of Australia Scott Morrison, Prime Minister of japan yoshihide suga and US President Joe Biden jointly participated in the Quad summit on 12 March.
Key Points:
QUAD leaders discussed regional and global issues of common interest, as well as solutions to contemporary challenges such as flexible supply chains, maritime security, climate change and emerging and key technologies to countries.
Quadrilateral Security Dialogue : QUAD
It is seen as Asian NATO. It is an informal strategic forum between Japan, USA, India and Australia. It hosts a semi-regular summit. It was launched in 2007 by Shinzo Abe, the then Prime Minister of Japan. This was paralleled by joint military exercises.
Significance:
All four member countries of this group aim to make the Indo-Pacific region free and inclusive. This group deals with common challenges such as prevalence and terrorism. Its members cooperate in curbing North Korea’s nuclear and missile programs.
