Pradhan Mantri Adi Adarsh Gram Yojana
- Recently, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs is currently striving to develop 36,428 villages with at least 50% tribal population and 500 scheduled tribes across the country as ‘Model Tribal’ villages.
- The Ministry of Tribal Affairs has converted the existing Special Central Assistance Scheme into a Tribal Sub-Scheme and renamed it as ‘Pradhan Mantri Adi Adarsh Gram Yojana’. The year fixed for its implementation is 2021-22 to 2025-26.
Pradhan Mantri Adi Adarsh Gram Yojana
- It plays an important role in the development and welfare of tribal people by providing Special Central Assistance in addition to the Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP) to supplement the efforts of the State Governments.
- It aims to provide basic infrastructure in villages with high tribal population and bridge the developmental gap by utilizing the funds available under the schemes under the Central Scheduled Tribe component.
- The scheme is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme with 100% grant from the Government of India.
Objective
- Preparation of village development plan on the basis of needs, possibilities and aspirations.
- Maximizing the coverage of individual/family benefit schemes of the Central/State Governments.
- Improving infrastructure for sectors like health, education, connectivity and livelihood.
This scheme has been prepared to reduce the gap in 8 major areas of development-
- These include road connectivity (intra and inter-village/block) and telecommunication connectivity (mobile/internet), schools with anganwadi centers, drinking water facilities, drainage and solid waste management etc.
