POSHAN Maah will be celebrated in September
Recently the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development has highlighted the plan to organize and celebrate Poshan Maah in September 2021.
POSHAN Abhiyaan
- POSHAN Abhiyaan is the flagship program of the Government of India to improve nutritional outcomes for pregnant women, lactating mothers, children and adolescent girls. This mission was announced in the budget for 2021-2022.
- The mission was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 8, 2018, on the occasion of International Women’s Day.
- POSHAN stands for “Prime Minister’s Overarching Scheme for Holistic Nutrition” campaign.
Mission Objective:
- POSHAN Abhiyaan draws the nation’s attention to the problem of malnutrition and addresses it in a mission-mode.
- This Mission Poshan Abhiyaan focuses on the objectives of Mission Poshan 2.0. It seeks to strengthen nutritional content, delivery and outcomes so as to provide adequate attention to diseases as well as malnutrition, health, wellness and immunity.
POSHAN Maah
- Poshan Maah is celebrated in the month of September to organize the community and increase the participation of the people.
- As India celebrates the ‘Amrit Mahotsav’ of Independence in the year 2021, the month has been divided into weekly themes with a focused and integrated approach to improving holistic nutrition.
- It will broadly focus on tree plantation drive for Poshan Vatika in Gram Panchayats, Anganwadi, School premises etc.
