PM inaugurates hydroelectric projects on several rivers in Himachal Pradesh

Recently, the Prime Minister inaugurated and laid foundation stones of various hydroelectric projects on several rivers in Himachal Pradesh.

  • Luhri Hydroelectric Project on River Sutlej: Originating near Raksatal (funded by Mansarovar in Tibet), Sutlej River enters India near Shipki-La Dar. It merges with the Indus in Pakistan. Bhakra Dam (India’s highest gravity dam) has been built on the Sutlej.
  • Dhaulasidh Hydroelectric Project on Beas River: After its origin near Rohtangdarre in Himachal, Beas joins Sutlej at Harike in Punjab. Pong Dam Lake on the Beas River is an International Wetland Site.
