Padma Shri Professor Radha Mohan passes away
Recently, Padma Shri awardee Professor Radha Mohan, India’s renowned environmentalist, has passed away at the age of 78.

- Professor Radha Mohan has been a former Information Commissioner of Odisha as well as being Professor of Economics. He and his daughter are credited with converting a piece of barren land into a vast forest of scarce produce using organic techniques.
- Born in 1943 in a small village in Nayagarh, he graduated in Economics from SCS College, Puri and also did his Post Graduation in Applied Economics from Utkal University in
- After retiring from the post of Principal in SCS College at Puri, he was appointed as the Information Commissioner of Odisha.
- The Odisha government awarded him ‘Utkal Seva Samman’ for his outstanding social work. Similarly, UNEP honored him with ‘The Global Role of Honour’.
- Radhamohan was awarded the Padma Shri, India’s fourth highest civilian award, for his work in agriculture in the year
