- Former Kerala Health Minister K.K. Shailaja has recently been awarded the prestigious Open Society Award (2021) of the Central European University (CEU).
- The ‘Open Society Award’, the highest award of the Central European University, recognizes their strong leadership in times of pandemic and their ‘community-based public health work’ to protect the lives of common people.
- This award is given annually by the Central European University to a person or organization whose achievements have made a significant contribution to the building of society. The ‘Central European University’ was founded in 1991 by the Hungarian political activist George Soros.
