One World TB Summit at Varanasi

Recently, on the occasion of World Tuberculosis Day, the Prime Minister addressed the One World TB Summit organized at Rudraksh Convention Center in Varanasi.

On the occasion, he also launched various initiatives including the Short TB Preventive Treatment (TPT), the official pan-India launch of TB-free panchayats, the family-centred care model for TB, and the release of the India Annual TB Report 2023.

Stop TB Partnership

  • The summit was organized by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Stop TB Partnership.
  • Founded in 2001, the Stop TB Partnership is a United Nations-hosted organization that articulates the voices of people, communities and countries affected by TB.

Committed to eliminate TB from India by 2025

  • In March 2018, the Prime Minister committed to eliminate TB from India by 2025, while the rest of the world aims to achieve the TB-related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.
  • The Prime Minister released the “Annual India TB Report 2023”, which is a compilation of the country’s efforts towards making India TB-free by 2025.
