Government launched Country’s first One Health Consortium
Recently ‘One Health Consortium’ has been launched, this consortium has been started by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT).
It is envisaged to monitor bacterial, viral and parasitic infections related to animal-borne diseases in the country as well as global diseases.
The concept of one health emphasizes the fact that the health of human beings is linked to the health of animals and the environment.
One Health Consortium is an approach designed to develop and enforce programs, policies and laws, and to encourage research. In this, multiple sectors organize dialogue and work together to achieve better public health outcomes.
Relevant areas under the One Health approach include food security, control of animal-borne diseases and combating antibiotic resistance.
