NPT Review Conference
Recently the United Nations has organized its tenth Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) review conference for nuclear disarmament.
In this treaty, Russia has blocked the final nuclear deal.
The final document of the agreement at this conference required the approval of all the countries that were parties to the NPT. However, Russia indicated that no agreement had been reached on this.
The NPT Review Conference is scheduled to be held every five years. But, the event has been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The review conference of the year 2015 ended without any agreement. The agreement could not be reached due to serious differences in the conference on the establishment of a ‘Middle East Zone’ free from weapons of mass destruction.
