Nod to Samagra Shiksha Scheme for Another 5 Years
Recently, the Union Cabinet has approved the continuation of the Samagra Shiksha Scheme/Yojana for school education for five years.
The Samagra Shiksha Yojana launched in the year 2018 has been further extended for the period from 1st April, 2021 to 31st March, 2026.
Samagra Shiksha Yojana
- Samagra Shiksha Yojana is an integrated scheme for school education. It covers the entire spectrum of education from pre-school education to class XII.
- The scheme emphasizes on the sustainability of school education, and is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals for Education (SDG-4).
- Under this scheme, three schemes namely Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan and Teacher Education have been included.
- The scheme is being implemented as a centrally sponsored scheme in partnership with the State Governments and Union Territory Administrations.
- In the second version of this scheme, this scheme will be implemented through effective coordination between various ministries and development agencies of the central and state governments.
- Vocational education will be expanded in convergence with the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and other ministries providing funding for skill development.
- The use of existing infrastructure of schools, Industrial Training Institutes (ITIS) and polytechnic institutes will be ensured not only for school going children but also for out-of-school children.
