NIRF Ranking 2021 for Higher Educational Institutions
Recently the Ministry of Education (MoE) has released the ‘India Ranking 2021’ for ‘Higher Educational Institutions’.
- This is the sixth consecutive edition of the rankings awarded to Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in India.
- It has been released by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF).
- NIRF was approved by the Ministry of Education (erstwhile Ministry of Human Resource Development) in September 2015. The framework outlines a methodology for providing rankings to institutions across the country.
- This is the first attempt by the Government of India to rank HEIs in the country. Prior to NIRF, HEIs were generally ranked by private entities.
- In the year 2018, it was made mandatory for all government educational institutions across the country to be part of the ‘National Institutional Ranking Framework’.
- All educational institutions are evaluated on five parameters namely – Teaching, Learning and Resources, Research and Professional Practice, Graduation Outcomes, Expansion and Inclusiveness and Experience.
