The city of Mumbai has announced detailed plans to achieve the target of net zero carbon emissions by the year 2050.
Mumbai has become the first city in South Asia to set such a time limit.
Under this scheme, changes will be brought in areas like investment in housing, electrification of public transport, drainage system capable of tolerant to flood, rooftop solar capacity etc
About Net Zero Emissions:
- It refers to a situation in which the greenhouse gases entering the atmosphere are balanced by the amount of greenhouse gases being removed from the atmosphere.
- India has announced to achieve the target of net zero emissions by the year 2070.
