Nationwide distribution campaign of AYUSH-64 and Kabasura Kudinir medicine

The Ministry of AYUSH has recently started a campaign to distribute drugs like ‘AYUSH-64 and Kabasura Kudineer’ across the country.

Key points

  • Under this campaign, nationwide distribution of AYUSH’s polyherbal medicines ‘AYUSH-64’ and ‘Kabasura Kudinir’ will be launched to combat the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.
  • These drugs will be provided to COVID-19 infected patients who are not hospitalized.
  • It may be noted that multi-center clinical trials of AYUSH-64 and KabasuraKudinir drugs have been done, where their usefulness and effectiveness in the treatment of COVID-19 have been proved.
  • The Ministry of AYUSH of the Government of India has said that through this nationwide campaign it will be decided that the medicines reach the needy transparently. Apart from this, the organization ‘Sewa Bharati’ has also been included as the main assistant in this campaign.
  • It is to be noted that a comprehensive strategy has been made for the nationwide distribution of these medicines, which are used in the treatment of mild and moderate infections of COVID-19.
  • To implement this strategy in a phased manner, a wide network of various institutions working under the Ministry of AYUSH will be used. The nationwide network of ‘Seva Bharati’ will contribute significantly in this.

AYUSH-64 medicine

  • The following Ayurvedic medicines have been added to the medicine ‘Ayush-64’, such as Saptaparna, Kutki, Chiraitya, and Kuberaksha, etc. It is a safe and effective Ayurvedic medicine. It can be used against the Covid virus, as it has been created on the basis of extensive scientific research.
  • The use of this medicine has also been advised by Ayurveda and Yoga-based National Clinical Management Protocol.
  • This medicine has been developed by The Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) of the Ministry of AYUSH.

Clinical trial of drug ‘AYUSH-64’

  • Recently, AYUSH-64 was tested by the Ministry of AYUSH of the Government and the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences, ((CCRAS) for early and moderate COVID-19
  • This extensive and intensive clinical trial found that the drug ‘Ayush-64’ is useful for mild and moderate COVID-19

The Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS)

  • CCRAS is an autonomous body under the Ministry of AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy), Government of India.
  • It is one of the highest national bodies in India for conducting research, coordinating, developing, and upgrading research in the Ayurveda system of medicine through the scientific process.
