National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems (NM-ICPS)
Through the National Interdisciplinary Cyber Physical Systems Mission (NM-ICPS), new and emerging technologies are being developed in 25 Technology Innovation Centers across the country. This will provide solutions to the problems related to the public.
A cyber physical system (CPS) combines physical objects (such as automated vehicles) and data with digital/cyber components with capabilities for communication, data collection and processing, computing, decision making and action.
About National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber & Physical Systems (NMICPS):
- The objective of this mission is to create a strong foundation and a seamless mechanism for CPS technologies by coordinating and integrating nationwide efforts.
- It was approved in the year 2018. It is implemented by the Department of Science and Technology (DST).
Mission goals:
- Making India a Major Agent in CPS Technologies
- Transforming CPS technologies for social and commercial use. Also, funding startups and increasing the job market.
- Creating the next generation of technocrats in ACPS technologies
The four major activities of NM-ICPS include:
- Technology Development, Human Resource and Skill Development, Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Start-up Mechanisms and International Cooperation.
- This mission is expected to act as an engine of growth. It will benefit national initiatives in health, education, energy, environment, agriculture, strategic cum security and industrial sectors, Industry 4-0, Smart Cities, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) etc.
