National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI)

National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI) has set up two new ‘Internet Exchange Points’ (IXP) in West Bengal under the Digital India vision.

IXP is a physical network access point. Primary network providers connect their networks to it, and exchange traffic.

NIXI is a non-profit organization established in the year 2003. It is an organization established under Section 8 of the Companies Act, 2013.

It acts as a neutral contact point for Internet Service Providers (ISPs). Its purpose is to facilitate the exchange of domestic Internet traffic between members of interconnected ISPs.

  • The launch of these new NIXI Internet Exchanges will contribute to the development and improvement of Internet and broadband services in local and neighboring areas.
  • Internet service providers connecting at these points will benefit as their broadband services to their end users will improve, thereby transforming the lives of the people in the area.
