National Doctor’s Day
- Recently, ‘National Doctor’s Day’ has been celebrated in the memory of Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy on July 1. It should be noted that on 1st July, both his birth anniversary and death anniversary happen.
- Roy, a former Chief Minister of Bengal and known for his selfless service, was instrumental in the establishment of several medical institutions.
- Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy is also known as the first medical consultant in the Indian subcontinent.
- Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy was also awarded the Bharat Ratna in the year 1961.
