Mission Amrit Sarovar
Recently a high level meeting was organized to review the progress of Mission Amrit Sarovar.
The mission aims to develop and rejuvenate 75 water bodies in each district of the country as part of celebrating the Amrit Mahotsav of Independence.
In all, this would lead to the creation of 50,000 reservoirs of approximately one acre or more in size.
Several Ministries/Departments are involved in this mission. Under this, work is done through states and districts by re-focusing on various schemes like MNREGA, grants by the 15th Finance Commission, Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana (PMKSY).
The target has been set to complete this mission by 15 August 2023.
