Recently a meeting of the Health Ministers of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) countries has been attended by the chief of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of India.

- Health Minister of India said that “Despite its own needs, during the COVID-19 pandemic, India ensured supply of medicines to 123 partner countries including 59 NAM nations.”
- The minister said that to strengthen Universal Health Coverage, India has adopted transformative strategies and fast-tracked many initiatives aimed at all the core tenets of Universal Health Coverage like, strengthening health systems including primary healthcare, improving access to free drugs and diagnostics and reducing catastrophic healthcare spending.
- Ayushman Bharat aims to provide free health assurance to over 500 million underprivileged people, making it the world’s largest health insurance scheme.

Non-Aligned Movement:
- The countries were formed as an organization during the Cold War of 1945–1991. This organization did not want to formally associate itself with the United States and the Soviet Union. It is an organization independent or neutral apart from these two.
- Six years after the 1955 Bandung Conference, the Non-Aligned Movement was organized in September 1961 as the first summit in Belgrade.
- As of April 2018, it has 120 members, including 53 countries in Africa, 39 countries in Asia, 26 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, and 2 countries in Europe.
- The Non-Aligned Movement has no formal constitution or permanent secretariat, and its administrative system is non-hierarchical and cyclical.
- Decisions are made by consensus, which requires adequate consent. Recently in the year 2020, a meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement was convened under the chairmanship of Azerbaijan.
