Mars Perseverance Rover: NASA

Recently NASA’s Perseverance rover has recorded the event of solar eclipse on Mars.

This eclipse was caused by the transit of Mars’ moon Phobos between Mars and the Sun. One of the two moons of Mars is Phobos and the other is Deimos.

This rover was launched in the year 2020 under the Mars 2020 mission. It landed on Mars’ Jezero crater in the year 2021.

This rover is an astrobiology mission.

Following are included under this –

  • To better understand the geology of Mars, and to search for ancient evidence of life.
  • Collecting and storing rock and soil samples for possible return to Earth, and testing new technologies to benefit future robotic and human exploration on Mars.
