The Sardar Vallabh Patel National police academy in Hyderabad is for Indian police Service training and Indira Gandhi National forest academy in Dehradun is for the training of the officer in the Indian Forest Service.

Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA)

IAS training is given to increase officers’ technical education and to make them more adaptable to changing situations in the nation and the local region as well as their mental resilience.

All new candidates go first to the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) at Mussoorie Uttarakhand. No matter whether the service is!  Foundation course, the initial practice runs for 4 months.

After this initial training period, professionals continue on to their various training institutions depending on their service. All this is done to instill a sense of equality.

The IAS training stays around 2 years in the LBSNAA for the duration of their course. This time period also includes their Bharat Darshan and time at the Bureau of parliamentary studies in New Delhi.

Training period at LBSNAA 

All the candidates must have to complete a 4 monthly foundation course at LBSNAA. This training aims to instil a spirit of cooperation and coordination among various services.

The training at LBSNAA is divided into 5 phase

  3. District Training 
  4. Phase 2 
  5. Assistant Secretary ship
  • IAS recruits are split into groups after completing the foundation course. They are taken on a tour of India to learn about the country’s rich cultural diversity and heritage.
  • IAS group is affiliated with several Administrative entities for a deep understanding.
  • The trainees meet with dignitaries, including India’s President.
  • A week at the Lok Sabha secretariat is a part of Bharat Darshan.

Academic module

Candidates are offered a 15-week activity program during their training. They have to begin their day at 6:00 a.m. within their exercise routine.

Courses like soft skills, land management, policymaking, national security, project management, e-government and other activities like horseback riding, tracking, adventure, sports, cultural activities and volunteering, cross country runs are also organised.

District training

District training lasts almost a year and allows you to learn about a certain district.

IAS training Phase 2

During District training, candidates share their learning experience from phase 1 and articulate and analyse development, obstacles and issues. Special seminars are also held with eminent topic matter experts.

Assistant secretary ship

Now the trainees are assigned to their respective duties after completing their practice. All IAS professionals are now given the title of assistant secretary as they all have some experience working in the central secretariat. Now, they were going to have a central reputation for a few months under the respective joint secretary. The period at LBSNAA is very beneficial. The Bharat Darshan and District Training Modules provide on the job practice for IAS trainees while the academic training prepares candidates for the difficulties ahead.

Conclusion

All recruits have to undergo extensive training at various institutes depending on the service to which they have been assigned after qualifying for the UPSC exam.
