Kaavi Art
Kaavi Art is a style of mural painting introduced by the Portuguese. Bright red and white colors are used in this.
- It is performed on wet plaster like a fresco. Fresco is a technique for painting murals on fresh lime plaster.
- Its name is derived from kava. It is a red pigment found in laterite soils. It is used to make drawings on the white surface of the plaster. Only red color is used in Kaavi painting.
- This painting can be seen in the temples of Konkan region, especially in Goa, Maharashtra and Karnataka.
