ISRO successfully launches 36 satellites with LVM3 rocket
Recently Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has successfully launched India’s largest Launch Vehicle Mark-III (LVM3) rocket from Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh.
Key Points:
- Under the OneWeb India – 2 mission, LVM-III has deployed 36 satellites of UK based Network Access Associated Limited (OneWeb) into Low Earth Orbit (LEO).
- OneWeb Group company has entered into a contract with NewSpace India Limited, the commercial arm of ISRO, to launch 72 satellites into LEO.
- The first satellite deployment collaboration between the two organizations took place in October 2022, when ISRO launched 36 OneWeb satellites.
- OneWeb is a global communications network operated from space, enabling connectivity for governments and businesses.
- LVM3 was previously known as Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle MkIII (GSLV MkIII). This launch is the sixth flight of the LVM3 rocket overall.
