Israel – Palestine Conflict
Recently a barricade was set up at Damascus Gate by the Israeli police. Along with this, the Israeli police attacked the Al-Aqsa Mosque (Al-Aqsa Mosque), which led to the start of Israeli and Palestine air attacks on each other.
In this airstrike, Gaza’s Hamas group attacked with several rockets. These rockets were intercepted by the Israeli Iron Dome and demolished in the air.
What is Iron Dome?
- It is an air defense system that neutralizes any missile or rocket. It is a short-range ground air-to-air defense system that is used to counter rockets, mortars, aircraft, helicopters, mortar artillery, and unmanned vehicles.
Origin of Iron Dome
- During the Israeli-Lebanon War in 2006, Hezbollah fired a number of rockets at Israel. Israel then stated that the government of Israel would develop an air defense system to protect its people and cities. It was only after this that the Iron Dome was developed by Israel.
About the Iron Dome
- It was deployed in According to Rafael Advance Systems, the Iron Dome has done more than two thousand interceptions so far. Its success rate is more than 90%. It is capable of protecting forward operating bases, urban areas, and security forces. It can be used in all weather conditions. In addition, it can also be operated day and night. The Interceptor Tamir Missile costs $ 80,000. Its battery and full unit cost $ 50 million.
Working of Iron dome
As soon as they detect the rocket coming into the Iron Dome’s interceptor, it explodes its own rocket and splashes it. The detonated rocket fragments will hit the rocket warhead. However, the interceptor rocket is important. It intercepts missiles in all directions. This establishes a working relationship between the interceptor missile and the radar.
It is based on three systems, all these three systems work together to provide a shield over a defined area.
- Detection and tracking radar to identify incoming threats
- War management and weapons control system
- Missile firing unit
