Iran Censured by IAEA for Failing to Cooperate With Monitors

Recently, India stayed away from a resolution criticizing Iran. The resolution condemns Iran’s neglect of the IAEA’s requests for oversight of its nuclear program, and other processes.

  • Headquarter of IAEA is in Vienna, Austria. It was established in the year 1957. It is a specialized agency of the United Nations.
  • Its origins began with Eisenhower’s “Atoms for Peace” address at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in 1953.
  • It is an intergovernmental forum for scientific and technical cooperation in the nuclear field. It works for the efficient, safe and peaceful use of nuclear science and technology.
  • In addition, it contributes to international peace and security and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The IAEA received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2005.
