INS Visakhapatnam

Recently, INS Visakhapatnam has been inducted into the Indian Navy.

It has been designed indigenously by the Directorate of Naval Design, an internal organization of the Indian Navy. It is constructed by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited, Mumbai.

It is equipped with state-of-the-art weapons and sensors such as surface-to-surface and surface-to-air missiles. Modern surveillance radar has also been installed on it.

It is capable of fighting even in situations like nuclear, biological and chemical warfare.

INS Visakhapatnam is named after the historic city of Andhra Pradesh, Visakhapatnam on the east coast. Visakhapatnam is also known as the “City of Destiny”.
