Innovations For Defence Excellence (iDEX)
Recently, the Major Project of the Ministry of Defense has signed its 250th contract by Innovations for Defense Excellence-Idex. This is the first contract under ‘Mission Def – Space’. It is also a 100th ‘Sprint’ (Navy) contract.
Mission Defspace Contract:
- The Space Startup Inspector has been awarded the first Idex contract of Mission Defspace.
- Insensibility has emerged as the defense of the defense space agency focused on developing a gas -based micropalation system for cubsat.
- Cubsat is a class of small satellites that are easy to manufacture and orderly, they cost low and also integrate and launch them. Cubsats are very important for launch-on-demand capabilities, as well as suitable for immunization, reconnaissance/communication and intelligence monitoring.
- The use of this technique will be able to organize satellites, including the cubsat group being formed as a part of the mission Defspace and organize its classrooms.
Sprint (navy) contract:
- Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi unveiled ‘SPRINT Challenges’, aimed at giving a boost to the usage of indigenous technology in Indian Navy, during Naval Innovation and Indigenisation Organisation (NIIO) seminar ‘Swavlamban’ in New Delhi on July 18, 2022. In a bid to achieve ‘Aatmanirbharta’ in defence and as part of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’, NIIO, in conjunction with the Defence Innovation Organisation (DIO), aims to induct at least 75 new indigenous technologies/products into the Indian Navy. This collaborative project is named SPRINT {Supporting Pole-Vaulting in R&D through Innovations for Defence Excellence (iDEX), NIIO and Technology Development Acceleration Cell (TDAC)}.
- For satellite tracking, this system offers a variety of receiver/transmitter options.
- It uses software-defined antenna for communication or contact with low-orbit or lower orbit of the Earth (Leo), Earth’s medium orbit and geostative satellites.
Innovations For Defence Excellence (iDEX)
- It was started with the aim of providing co-construction and co-development platforms in the defense sector.
- It aims to include start-ups to contribute to the defense sector. In addition, it will also help in developing defense and aerospace setups in the country.
- Idex is implementing the Defense Innovation Organization (DIO). DIO has been established under the Defense Production Department of the Ministry of Defense.
