India-Mozambique-Tanzania Trilateral Exercise (IMT TRILAT)

Recently the Indian Navy participated in the first edition of the India-Mozambique-Tanzania Trilateral Exercise (IMT TRILAT).

A joint maritime exercise between the navies of India, Mozambique and Tanzania began in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania.

Key features of the exercise:

  • The Indian Navy is represented by Guided Missile Frigates, INS Tarkash, Chetak Helicopters and MARCOS (Special Forces).
  • Its objective is to develop capacity to address common hazards through training and sharing of best practices.
  • Strengthening maritime cooperation and enhancing interoperability.

Significance:

These exercises reflect the commitment of India and the Indian Navy to enhance maritime security and cooperation with maritime neighbors in the Indian Ocean region and promote SAGAR Security and Development for All in the region.
