High Ambition Coalition (HAC) for Nature and People
India has recently urged countries to join the ‘High Ambition Coalition for Nature and People’ (HAC).
- India joined it during COP 15.
- HAC is an intergovernmental group. It is supporting a global agreement for nature and people. This can prevent rapid loss of species. At the same time, it can protect important ecosystems, which are the source of our economic security.
- The alliance aims to promote an international agreement to protect at least 30 percent of the world’s land and oceans by 2030. It is also called the 30×30 target under the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD).
