Green channel for Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana
Recently Green Channel Payment (GCP) has been established for Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY).
- It has been established by the National Health Authority (NHA).
- Green Channel Payment (GCP) aims to expedite payments to empaneled hospitals treating the beneficiaries of AB PM-JAY.
- Under this, 50% of the expenditure incurred for any treatment under the scheme will be paid immediately through this channel to the hospitals with good records.
- Currently, the empaneled hospital receives payment after its claim is approved and paid by the State Health Agency (SHA).
- This period is 15 days for non-portability claims and 30 days for portability claims.
Importance of Green Channel Payment (GCP):
- This will enable timely and fair payments to hospitals, which is critical for effective implementation of the AB PM-JAY scheme.
- This AB will encourage greater participation of hospitals in treating the beneficiaries of PM-JAY.
Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY)
- This is an insurance plan. Under this scheme, the beneficiaries have been given insurance for secondary, and tertiary health care. Under this, the health expenses of up to Rs 5 lakh for each family are covered for hospitalization. Also, cashless and paperless annual healthcare benefits are provided under it.
- It is the world’s largest health insurance scheme funded by a government.
- Under Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, the beneficiary families are identified on the basis of Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC), 2011.
- This scheme was started in the year 2018. The scheme is being implemented by NHA, an attached office of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
- It is applicable in all states and union territories except West Bengal, National Capital Territory of Delhi and Odisha.
