In view of the deteriorating air quality, the National Capital Region has been directed to be ready to take action under Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP).
GRAP
- GRAP, which was notified by the union environment ministry in January 2017, classifies air pollution into four categories of air quality—moderate to poor, very poor, severe, very severe or emergency.
- GRAP was notified by the Union Environment Ministry in the year 2017. It is a set of emergency measures to be taken to reduce air pollution based on the level of pollution.
- The Graded Response Action Plan was brought in pursuance of the Supreme Court order in MC Mehta Vs Union of India.
