GI Tag Certified Jalgaon Banana
Jalgaon Banana was granted GI Tag certification in the year 2016, and is also registered under the name Nisargraja Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Jalgaon, Maharashtra. Recently once again it is in discussion for its merits.
It may be noted that India is the largest producer of bananas in the world with a share of about 25% in the total production.
Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh contribute more than 70% of the total banana production in the state.
